Timera's Story
Life
I am taking the scenic route to adulthood. Along the way I have had a plethora of experiences I wouldn't trade for the world. I have written feature articles for magazines and newspapers, had my photography published, worked as a copywriter/marketing associate for a tobacco company, ran the media for a congressional candidate's campaign (twice), and taught high school English. Now I have returned to school to complete my MA in English (May 2008), while teaching community college English classes. One day I want to complete my PhD, but I'm thinking of switching from Literature to Poli Sci. The political bug has got me in a big way...
I'm married (just over a year) to a wonderful man who is the yin to my yang. We don't want kids, but we're seriously considering raising puppies.
College
When I got to...Expand for more
college at the tender age of 16, I discovered boys and beer. Hopefully, I'm making up for my less-than-stellar academic performance as an undergrad with my performance in my master's program. I don't regret my undergrad years (talk about a learning experience!), but I definitely have my act together much better these days. The work and life experiences have definitely helped me that regard.
As a grad student, my life is devoted to reading, reading, and reading, with a frenzied period of term-paper writing at the end of each semester. In my spare time, I read more. During the summer and at Christmas, my husband usually gets to enjoy the company of his wife, who disappears under the rock of Renaissance drama each semester. And to think of it -- I must be a masochist, because I'm applying to PhD programs!
