Timothy's Story
Nine years Marines, three marriages, no children, traveled throughout England, France, Hungary, Japan, Australia. Highly regarded data center infrastructure service tech, I traveled throughout the country to work. Married my high school sweetheart, that lasted three years. Then married an older woman divorced. Moved to Denver with a woman she married someone else. I have been with my present wife for 27 years. Retired at 62, We enjoy hiking all over, National Parks, Zion, Arches, Danalie, RMNP, Rainer, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, to name a few, usually about 5 - 8 miles sometimes 11+ miles. We have no children, which has been a blessing to me, I feel as if I would of been a terrible father, but didn’t have to find out.
I asked the school district if I could graduate in 70 since I had more credits than what was required, (insert nerd here), they told me I had to go another year for a semester course (American Government). I enlisted, yes enlisted, in the Marines and took my GED and was rated in the top 10% of education. During this time you could take your GED and get a High School Diploma which I did and laughed all the way.
During my tour in the Marine’s I was shipped overseas. Got a few ribbons, scars, mental and physical and the latter half of my time I was responsible for the section that did all air conditioning and refrigeration repairs west of the Mississippi out to Japan, at 23 years of age I was fulfilling a position that usually had a 35 - 45 year old, loads of commendations, including one that I went up against Trane engineers and won.
I moved to Houston and went to Houston Community College and got my Associate’s in HVAC on the GI Bill, Houston was the only one that gave out degrees, everyone else did certificates.. Stayed there for about eight years, working at Alief school district as a engineer. Sheesh, the things I saw in the teacher lounge and behind closed doors, drugs, alcohol and favoritism. I moved to Denver in 88 and have been here since. I consider myself a liberal conservative, more libertarian, keeping Republicans out of the bedroom and Democrats out of my wallet type guy, no I DID NOT VOTE FOR Trump or Hillary, both are crooks and bullies. I believe in the right to bear arms, after hunting men, having a gun does not appeal to me. How ever, if your within 12.5 ft of me and you have a weapon on me, you are dealing with death incarnate. The average male (I’ m not average) can cover that distance in 1.5 seconds, look it up. I have men’s blood on my hands. As I once read. “I came into this world kicking and screaming covered with blood, I have no problem leaving the same way”. That being said, I am a peaceful man, with strong opinions, boundaries and respect others point of view, as long as it is mature.
My hobbies include, reading fiction, history of WW2, decorating our home, drawing and other artsy fartsy stuff. I also enjoy cooking, (my decadent chocolate bundt cake w/Kailua is a favorite with friends) I remember signing up for Bachelor living at Senior High. I volunteer at a no kill cat shelter. My wife is a breast cancer survivor and I was/am her caregiver. It has returned, it is Stage 4. I thought I was tough, not even compared to her. We both volunteer for various Cancer Support groups. I take care of the house, cleaning, mowing, separating and doing laundry and wash windows, along with all the other things involved with a home with 5600 sq ft. My wife handles all the money, bills, investments and such, she is so much better at it than I. I found out much later in my life that when I was in Marines I had taken out $100 a month Saving Bonds for all nine years, they matured and I found them 20 years later. BIG score!!!!!!! Used to play the trumpet in school, now I attempt to pick at the guitar. Do I think of moving back to Medford? I sometimes entertain the thought of moving someplace in Southern Oregon. I am surprised that most of the orchards I used to smudge at have been re-planted as vineyards.
