Tina's Story
I live about 2 hours north of Tokyo in the countryside of Niigata City. We are 10 minutes from the beach on the Japan Sea (left side of Japan).
I can't believe I ended up living in Japan instead of somewhere in Europe! I studied French and Spanish and a bit of German, with the intention of studying abroad at La Sorbonne in Paris. I had secret dreams of meeting and marrying a handsome Frenchman, Spaniard or Italian, but instead I feel in love with a Japanese exchange student! He wasn't the first Japanese person I had ever met, so I had already become interested in coming to Japan to teach English. My husband and I didn't start dating until several years after we first met. When we met for the 2nd time in Japan, we dated for a couple of years and then married.
