Tina's Story
Life
Hmmm. Where to begin. I was a member of Classmates a few years ago, but let my membership lapse. So I guess I need a new bio. I'll make it brief. After graduation I moved to NY. My first job was lame - aren't all first jobs? Moved on to advertising - the perfect job for an almost 20 yr old. Lot's of fun - late hours, but fun times. Met my husband through a friend (at 19) at a very cool house party. We were engaged after 9 months and married in 1989. Lived in a Brooklyn walk-up apartment - not so good when you're pregnant w/ baby #1. When my 1st daughter turned 3 we moved to the 'burbs (LI). Christened the house and daughter #2 was born 9 months later. (New house/new baby). Since moving to LI I've been a part-time receptionist for a local pediatrician in my town. That was so much fun! I've often wish that I would've continued with my education - being a teacher would've suit me well. Now I'm a monitor in my youngest daughter's elementary school. She's 9 and going into fourth grade. My older daughter is 13 and will be startin...Expand for more
g 8th grade. I do tons of volunteer work through both of my kids' schools. Not always relaxing, but worthwhile. I've never really been comfortable with publice speaking and stuff, but quickly learned to speak up. Dealing with the PTA is dangerous! Some of these moms just love to argue for arguments sake! As a family, we love to travel! Favorite place to go w/o kids is New Orleans - Great food, great music, great drinks! We have a time share in V.Beach (which we have occasionally traded to go to other places). We also go on a yearly camping trip with my sisters and their families (I have a super fantastic step-sister, she and I are the same age - and my younger sister swears that when we get together, we need watching over more than the kids do! My mother met my step-father a month after I was married and they've been together ever since. I'm still a warm weather gal and even though I haven't been to Texas in about 12 years, I miss the weather (winter here can suck)! Once again, hoping to hear from any other '85 graduates.
