Tina's Story

WOW, not updated since 2008, it is 2014 now, almost 2015. We are still in AZ, just 3 short miles from the University of Phoenix Stadium if anyone is in town for the Super Bowl, let me know. I just sucked it up and paid for this so I can see and respond to messages. :) Derringer and I have been married for 27 years now. Chris lives in Denver with his wife Sara and their dog Nergal. Steph is home with us and attending college in Glendale, AZ. I am teaching 3rd grade in Tolleson, AZ, about 15 minute commute, I like that. Derringer manages a mortuary in Cave Creek, AZ, about 45 minutes from home, he does not like the commute. Grandma Pixler, Berenice the lunch lady, passed in 2012. She is greatly missed, and she is in my thoughts a lot near the holidays because it was always a special time with her. We like to travel, camp, hunt, and many other things. Last year we went camping for New Years, went out on the lake, and wore shorts. Something we cannot do in CO. I prefer camping in the winter because there are fewer people, and since we are in AZ it is sill nice out. I am looking forward to 2015 and the many new adventures that await. Hugs, Tina December 27, 2014 Well I guess I need to update this more often :) I have been married for 21 years now. My son Christopher is 23 now, who would have guessed that since I had him our senior year. He just returned from a tour Iraq/Kuwait in May of 08, and is living on his own in Denver. 2007/2008 has been a busy year for us. In September/October of 2007 we moved from Denver to Pho...Expand for more
enix. Still not sure why I left the beauty of Colorado for the desert of AZ, oh yea, the job. It was a hard decision since Chris was gone, but he said that it would be a great opportunity and that he would be fine. I just needed to understand that he would not be moving to the desert. He did say that even if he had been home he wouldn't move to the desert. Stephanie is 17 and will hopefully be graduating in May. Unfortunately AZ didn't recognize all of her credits from CO so she is a few short. She has enrolled in a program after school that will help her make them up so she can graduate on time. Here's to hopping, she is a teenage girl after all and there is always DRAMA. I am teaching 2nd grade this year, and things are good. I am still surprised at the schools here, and how far behind they are. It is much easier to get a job here though. In CO the first question I was always asked was "Do you speak Spanish?" Here not so much. In Denver I was at a school that has 96% 2nd language learners, and they all spoke Spanish. The school I am at this year has 0% and last year it was only like 30%. So there you go, I would have never guessed it would be like that. My husband, Derringer, yes he is Christopher's father, manages 2 mortuaries and a cemetery here in Glendale, AZ. His job is the reason we moved. Things are good and he likes his job. I am very jealous right now since he is leaving in 5 days to go hunting in CO for 10 days. Well that is all for now, let's see how long is before I update this again. Tina October 11, 2008
