Tina's Story
Life
Greetings!
My name is Tina Marie Replogle Pokladnik Clyburn and I live outside of Campbellton, Texas on a ranch with my husband, Craig.We moved south during the summer of 2010 to live our dream!!!! I retired from James L. Wright Elementary as Principal in June 2010. This is the building where I attended first through fifth grades. I graduated from Perryton High School in 1974. I graduated from the University of North Texas in 1977 with a teaching degree. I was married in 1977 and my last name was Pokladnik.
My first teaching assignment was at Mesquite High School with six biology classes. I loved my kids, my room, and my position at the school! During that time, I returned to school and earned my Masters of Education degree in supervision. Katie Danette (BFA-Tx Woman's Univ.-2004-graphic design) was born at the beginning of my 5th year at MHS in 1981. We moved to Perryton in January 1982.
I taught 10 years at Perryton Junior High. Andrew (Drew) [AA-South Plains-2004-welding technologies]was born in 1983. I enjoyed my time at PJH and found the middle school age kids delightful! I divorced and the kids and I spent a wonderful summer in Lubbock. We moved to Coppell, Texas where I taught biology at Coppell High School for two years. Again, the work was a wonderful experience for me and my students.
I returned to college again and began work on the midman...Expand for more
agement certification. I accepted the principalship at West Texas Middle School in August, 1994. During the seven years I was at WTMS, the school received 5 "exemplary" ratings. I was also recognized as Middle School Principal of the Year. I was honored as one of three finalists for Texas Middle School Principal of the Year 1999-2000. I am so proud of that school--students and staff!
I married the love of my life in 1996 who also has two children. Our girls were 14, his son 13, and my son was 12 when we became a family. In the midst of this, my kid's father took us back to court to terminate his parental rights. Without hesitation, Craig adopted the kids and now we are all legally Clyburns. I became Principal of Wright Elementary for the 2001-2002 school year. This is a great school that was honored by the United States Department of Education as a 2004 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School for dramatic improvement in reading and math. We continue to work hard to teach the little guys to read, cipher, and play nice!
Twenty-eight years later (2005), I still love to go to school. If you are reading all of this, I was probably your teacher at some point.
