Tina's Story
I'm not really sure how this works, but I thought it might be interesting to catch up with old friends from Illinois, if they're still around the area.
I moved out to California for College and never returned. I love it here and got the rest of my family to move out here as well. I only have a brother left in Hinsdale, Ivan Valcarenghi, who practices Dentistry with his wife Kathy.
I'm a Speech Pathologist and started my own Rehabilitation business in 1983, incorporated in 1985. I have about 100 employees, mostly Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists. We service the geriatric popluation and when I was actually practicing, it was very rewarding. I soon learned that I was better at procuring contracts then just treating patients. Life has been very good to me. I have a 14 year old daughter. She is my joy and my biggest challenge. She's very much like her mother: spirited and headstrong.
I don't know what else to say other than I have been blessed with the most wonderful family and my parents are still living in Northern California near my brothers who are both physicians in the Chico area. I guess they f...Expand for more
elt they would be taken care of if they were close to the Doctors. They are 89 and 84 and my dad still drives down to Southern California (8 hour drive) to visit me. They were just here for my daughter's 8th grade graduation. They are amazing. My mother still teaches at Chico Universtiy part time. My dad spends his day going to the Health Club daily from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon. He has a big circle of friends at the club and I think their involvement in life has helped to keep them young and vital. They are both very involved in their church which is like an extended family. I'm very proud of them and of my brothers. We came here from Italy in the late 50's - my mother was offered a Fullbright Scholarship and were planning to move back to Italy after 2 years. They decided to stay because of their 3 children and felt that there would be more opportunity in this country. They had a 4th child in the U.S. - my baby brother Ivan. I think their decision to stay was the right one. They raised 4 very happy and productive children. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here and try to put some pictures on this site, if I can figure it out.
