Todd's Story
Life
I started working at 13 and always wanted to be an auto mechanic. I was sucessful as an auto mechanic from 1988 to 2000. I was a firefighter for Homer Twp. Fire Prot. Dist from 1993 until 1998.
I married my wife Karen in 1995 and we currently have two children, Trevor and Emily. My wife and I moved to Arizona in 1998 from our home in Lockport because we were looking for a change. We just purchased a new home in 2006 and plan to stay here for a while.
I decided I needed something different for a job after working in Arizona for a year so I started a law enforcement career. I started as a patrol officer and transferred to a plain clothes detective position in 1996. I also serve as a member of the aviation section flying around the city in a helicopter as well as an airplane. What a blast!
I am currently a commercial helicopter pilot and fixed wing pilot.
School
Biggest crush? Had a few, can't mention them though....I'm married! Anyway, several people have been part of my life and the reasons for the directions I went. I had a first love in high school (not a student from Lockport H.S. and if she reads this she probably knows who she is) but things didn't turn out for us. Why things happen like that, I don't know, but it does.
I am very happy where I am in life even though I had many ups and downs. You can't change ...Expand for more
the past but you can always remember it.....can't you? If I wasn't where I am now, I wouldn't have the family, friends or experiences I have. I would not change that for anything.....period.
Do I think about the old days.....sure. I miss the fun I had with people I knew back then and sometimes I wish I could hook up with them all and laugh about the times we had. I hope to do that someday.
Workplace
I have worked many jobs but always felt I needed a bigger challenge. I worked as a janitor at 13, worked as a laborer for a custom home builder at 16, an auto and truck mechanic, a firefighter/EMT and now for the past 7 plus years I am a law enforcement officer.
I obtained my private helicopter pilot license in 2002 from Quantum Helicopters in Chandler, Arizona and my fixed wing license in 2002 from a CFI friend of mine. I recently obtained my commercial helicopter license in 2007 from Silverstate Helicopters in Mesa, Arizona. Currently I am working on my instrument rating in helicopters as well as airplanes. I continue to strive to be the best at what I do. My desire is to continue flying many different types of aircraft in several different areas of employment. Law enforcement flying is fun but there is alot more ground to cover!
I hope to fly rescue or medical helicopters before I retire after my career in law enforcement.
