Todd's Story
During the summer before my senior year I was working at Hinky Dinky on 41st and Minnesota and made some really good friends. Subsequently I ended up spending the majority of my abbreviated senior year hanging out with those guys whom all attended Lincoln. I graduated mid-term and went to work running a printing press for the Shopping News. I watched a number of my friends head off to college.
Looking back I wished I had spent more time with my freinds at Washington and stayed in school for the whole year.
After working at the Shopping News for about a year I decided to join the Army . I shipped out Mar 1983 and did a 4 year hitch. It was a great experience. I traveled all over Europe and had the chance to play guitar with the US Armed Forces 1985 "Star Voyage" variety show. I also met Maria Ramirez and we were married in July '87. We moved back to Sioux Falls and she attended school for the first two years while I worked as an assitant production manager at the Argus Leader. We had Alyssa in '92 the same year we moved to Fresno, CA where I took a position as a production manager at a local printing company.
We found that Fresno wasn't a lot of fun so we moved back to Sioux Falls and we both found...Expand for more
jobs in our respective fields. After a couple of years I was offered a job in Printing Equipment sales based out of Minneapolis so we decided it was time for a change and headed up to the cities. It was a BIG change. We were divorced 22 months later.
Since then I had a townhome in Coon Rapids, sold it and moved up to Gull Lake in Brainerd, MN. After a couple years the driving got to be a real hassle so I sold it and now own a place in Elk River, just 15 min from Alyssa.
I haven't played in a band since leaving Sioux Falls and miss those days a lot. Maybe you can remember "57 Rag Top" or "Rural Route 1". I played in both from 87-95. We played out at DJ's on 10th street, the VFW and the Sidewinder...oh yea and the Desert Rose.
Alyssa will be 17 shortly and is planning on going to UCLA. She already has 6 college credits and will ad 6 more by the end of this school year. She has been accepted to attend Anoka Community College as a freshman during her senior year in high school. You can imagine just how proud I am.
I hope to catch up with a few of my old classmates and take that crazy trip down memory lane. If you remember me and would like to hook up sometime email me and let's do it!
