Todd's Story
Went to Whittier College after graduating from Redondo. Was a history/PE major and graduated in 1970. Taught at Sierra High School for a few years and then moved to Yorba Linda and helped to start Esperanza High School. Was there for 5 years and then went back to Sierra to become the Varsity Basketball Coach, where I coached for 2 more years. Was Coach of the Year my last year, but more people will remember me for having coached the lowest scoring game in the states history when we played San Clemente in the CIF playoffs and the final score was 6-4. Was my last year coaching and teaching as my wife and I, and our 2 boys, Ryan and Adam left for Europe to do Christian ministry in Denmark and then Ireland. Have been here now over 30 years and helped to start 2 churches in Dublin. Also involved in sports ministry here and coached one year in their professional league and was voted Coach of the Year, but found I was becoming more of a basketball coach than a missionary so retired from coa...Expand for more
ching again. Wrote a tract for my ministry which is called Meet My Head Coach, which today is in more than 19 languages and Coach John Wooden had his own version of. Have 4 children, Ryan (35) living in California, and working for ADP. Adam (33) a doctor here in Dublin, and the proud parent of our only grandchild, Conor ( very irish, and even has red haird). Garrett (27) born in Ireland and working in management for the Irish phone company. Olivia (24) just graduated from Trinity University and spent the past summer working in Kolkata, India with street kids, and now employed by an Irish charity which works with families dealing with HIV/AIDS. Have taken Irish citizenship and plan to retire here in Ireland in the next few years. My wife, Celesta, who I met at Whittier College is the Head of the Humanities Department of a local university. Love Ireland and our life here and look forward to spending our remaining days here with family and friends.
