Tom Avery:

CLASS OF 1966

Tom's Story

LIFE I've been married since 1993 and my wife, Carole, and I have owned a co-op apartment in Brooklyn since 1986. We have no children (by choice). One brother (Jim) is an engineer living in California with his wife, Susie. The other brother (Dan) is a troubleshooter for AT&T living in New Jersey. Jim has two daughters with his first wife: Danelle is a nurse and Paula is attending Washington University in St. Louis. Danelle has a three-year-old son named Andrew James. That, of course, makes my younger brother a grandfather. Dan and his wife, Mary Lynn, have a son and two daughters: Michael is in college and Lisa and Erica are in high school. One sister (Pat) is an attorney living in Manhattan and my other sister (...Expand for more
Ginger) is an office manager living in Virginia. Ginger and her husband, Mike, have a son, Andy, who is a major in the U.S. Army and is now stationed in Europe (after two tours of duty in Iraq). He will be shipping out to Afghanistan in October. He and his wife, Irma, had their first child, Isabella, this past January which, of course, makes my younger sister a grandmother. I'm just about to start the second year of a full-time teaching position at St. John's University in Queens. (My contract was renewed for the coming year and will -- I hope -- be renewed again next year.) i took off this summer so that I could catch up on my reading, do some writing, work on some personal business and, occasionally, just goof off.
