Life After living on both coasts and in Texas, Oklahoma, Okinawa, and Vietnam, I spent the last 30 years in the Detroit area where I retired in 2017 to do photography, ride my bicycles, create music, and counsel a few families in private practice. I am married for the third time (40 years!) and have two adult sons. Military I volunteered to work at Pioneer House, a heroin addiction treatment center, because I was so impressed with what they did for a friend called "Crash"--I can't remember his name--who went through treatment there when I had just arrived at 2nd Civil Affairs Company. Some months later, when I was working there, Crash came back through again. He'd relapsed, as many of our guys did. But this time the treatment stuck, and he came back to become staff. Other staff I can identify included John Bockoven (?), who was one of the group who got the place started, Mike Jett, and Steve Bennett, who was my tutor and guide throughout my period working there.
