Tom's Story
Born in Germany just after the war, my parents came to Canada in 1952. My two sisters and I were raised in Montreal. Graduated from Loyola College and taught 3 years in Montreal before moving to Ottawa. Taught 26 years in Ottawa at Manordale, D.A. Moodie, Rideau Valley, Barrhaven, and retired from Meadowlands May 1, 2000. Spent two years at Board Office as Special Assignment Teacher in Personal Well Being. Taught most grades from JK to 8.
Since retirement I have done some supply teaching, owned a matchmaking service, and operated a moving company with my son. ook store. We sold the business in May 2007 and purchased and renovated a house in Pugwash overlooking the ocean and within sight of the Cyrus Eaton "Thinkers Lodge". We are volunteers for the Pugwash Peace Exchange and Communities in Bloom. No longer having to work long hours at the cafe we are now free to return to Ottawa more frequently to see family and friends. My wife has two kids from a previous marriage and my son is a graduate philosophy student at Queen's.
I am interested in personal growth and fitness. I love to run, swim, read, cook, meditate and do yoga. Healthy eating and the study of nutrition has always been an interest. I'm also an avid Sens fan.
In October 2009 we moved back to Ottawa to be closer to friends and family.
