Tom's Story
Workplace
After high school I worked in movie theater and retail management while attending college. I majored in computer science and worked as a computer operator and programmer for AccuTax Systems in Walnut Creek,CA (along with classmate Dan Hakins) from 1984 until mid-1992 when they went out of business. Then I worked as a contract employee for 1.5 years with Wells Fargo Bank and the US Department of Defense at the Oakland Army Base. ncord as a computer analyst and a Local Area Network Engineer.
What I like best about my job: due to the ever-changing nature of high-tech, I have to constantly adapt to new technologies. This keeps me interested in my job so I rarely feel like I am in a rut.
Military
I applied for Navy ROTC in college but was turned down because my vision wasn't good enough without corrective lenses. I did work for the military as a civilian contractor for the better part of a year at the Oakland Army base before it closed down.
