Tom's Story
Life
The short version is as follows:
I am in beautiful Ludington, MI...just outside of town, surrounded by woods with my wife, 2 young boys, (11 and 13) and assorted pets. I mostly work at home via the Net and still get together with buds & kick out the jams once every week or so doing classic & current rock at 120 decibels in my garage..thats never had a car in it..just amps, guitars, drums, keyboards, theatrical lighting..waiting for the next cause or party!
I was born in Highland Park, Michigan. I started kindergarten at Mason Elementary School. During the 4 years I was there, we lived in one of the *last* farm houses in the Detroit city limits at the corner of Plymouth and Telegraph roads. my parents told me that the house was about 125 years old. When we moved, they tore it down and built a high school in its place. Names like: Chuck Safilian, Pam Zang, Michael Baladski, Serge LaPointe, Kristen Takayama, Brian Martin, and Johnny Weeks come to mind for various reasons and I wonder if any of them...remember.
Leaving there as the 4th grade started, we moved to Warren, Michigan in a *brand new* house in a place called The Cigarette Sub...comprised mostly of streets named after cigarettes (cough..what were they thinking???) I started 4th grade at Warner Elementary School. Our area was growing so rapidly we were now called The CITY of Sterling Heights.
Because Warner Elementary was *TOO CROWDED*, 5th grade was spent at County Line Elementary School"(Where were you when Kennedy was shot?).
But..its TOO CROWDED here, too!
Warner Elementary was expanded, so we spent 6th grade back over there.
7th grade was in Fuhrmann Junior High (do you remember your first love?) where I went to my first dance.
Guess what, its TOO CROWEDED here. Oh-oh..looks like they might have time to *make some friends*!!!...gotta MOVE the Cigarette-Sub-Kidz..AGAIN. Only this time..lets REALLY move em!! Well put them in..uh..I got it!..some p...Expand for more
lace no one has heard of yet..this new school called Melby Junior High.
So the Cigarette-Sub-Kidz did 8th grade at Melby.
Mr. Ciccone: "Bus 56 & 62 please report to the "pit-area"...NOW!
Ah, my 2nd dance..and wow..the band played I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night by The Electric Prunes (guess you can see where Im headed). John: Thanks for showing me what cool was!
DEAR DIARY: Were *supposed* to be headed back to Fuhrmann Junior High after this...cant wait, *SHE* still goes there.
FOOLED YA!!! Thought you were going back to FUHRMANN, didnt ya? Havent you noticed the pattern here? Youre not going to be allowed to see *her* OR be a senior in Junior High. YOU are going to be the new, bottom-rung of the ladder (insert Satan sounds HERE). Youre going to be a FRESHMAN in the newly-added-class-due-to-over-OVER CROWDING, 9th grade at Warren High School! The lowest-of-lows! Im doing pretty good here (B+ average). *No one* told me that I needed prerequisites in order to take electronics! Hell, Im already building HAM radio transmitters in cigar-boxes!
They took my classes from me! Thanks Durham! Time to QUIT & get a job.
Then, I was kidnapped and taken north. I escaped to Ludington where I started a band. "Thats the way you do it..money for nothing, and your chicks are free" (insert Money For Nothing by Dire Straits HERE).
Played in numerous states with various bands for YEARS. Damn agent fees, motel bills, truck rentals, equipment rentals! Many thanks to all the maidens that took us in for the night. Life was ssssso rough at times.
Time to settle down..get a place.
Its an interesting, challenging and fun life. We see people from many big cities here on vacation who tell us that they want to retire here to this beautiful place. I figure...why wait until I'm OLD? Ill just live in this beauty ALL THE TIME, and, just visit the city.
