Tom's Story
Left Whitesboro in '76, joined the Marines, and stayed until 97. Infantry and Recon units, Private to Staff Sergeant, then comissioned a Second Lieutenant, retired a Major. Two Combat tours and various clandestine ops.
Then went to work for Corporate USA. Managed and Directed several operations, took a severance after 13 years and am happily retired and smelling the roses and doing whatever the eff I feel like doing.
Two ex-wives, the first one married to for 22 years, then she left..... yeah, I still miss her. Second one....bad decision. Glad she's gone. Three great kids, Boy is Naval Officer, oldest Girl married to former Army 'copter pilot who is now a private contractor in Afghanistan. Youngest girl left with her mother when she was three. She is 16 now and is good at EVERYTHING! My older kids say this is because she wasn't WARPED by me like THEY were. Jeez.......
If you see a red 90 Jaguar XJS with NC plates around Whitesboro this summer, it's me. Flag me down, would love to say hello to all to of you!!
Sorry I missed the reunion last August, I was actually IN TOWN but the Jag developed a leak in the gas tank and I spent that saturday re-installing it in the car. What a pain in the GAS!!!!
Knee replacement sugery last ...Expand for more
Sept, WOW, what a difference! I strongly recommend it if you are a candidate.
Will have my other knee done (hopefully) same time in 2014. That will make 15 surgeries for various wonderful malfunctions......
BTW I fill much of my time restoring 1920-1940 radios!! (ya, I know... I need to get a life)
I restore the cabinets if necessary and replace the electronic components to where they play and receive like brand new. I am in NC and I can ROUTINELY receive Yankee games on WCBS in NYC!!
This hobby keeps me out of bars chasing "wild wimmen" and getting wild-___ (rhymes with "grass") drunk.
Just re-connected with my boyhood pal Russ (Rusty back then) Robinson!!!! Color me VERY HAPPY !!
Another great time at camp this past (2015) summer. A great time punctuated by me breaking several ribs, which would have been no big deal except that they were MY ribs. FYI you can't gut out sleeping in any position in this condition. Thank God for prescription narcotics, something I normally avoid. And the Saranac Lake Hospital has some VERY nice people working there!!!
Also re-connected with Tom Pentland via Facebook. It was and is always a mental "breath of fresh air" to commiserate with Tom, his perspective on things is always interesting.
