Tom's Story
Hi all, As you may know, I could not wait to join the military.....immediately after graduation, I was off to the U.S. Navy. I spent 4 years there on two different aircraft carriers (USS Saratoga & USS Forrestal)< I worked on the flight deck where all the action was......I got out in 1966, married shortly after that,i was married just in time for Vietnam to get rolling, my then wife knew I was anxious to be part of the military during wartime, soooooo after promising her that I'd come back upright, I joined the US Air Force......I was stationed at Wurtsmith AFB (Oscoda Mi) for about a year and then volunteered for Vietnam......I spent 2 tours there and ultimately came home with a purple heart and several other medals.......I lost many good friends there including a cousin who was killed the day I got in country. I got home in time to go to Woodstock ( I don't remember much of it though) and a Pink Floyd concert.
I have been very fortunate to have my health and my boyish good looks!!!!! (HAHA)
My only regret is that I let my ex talk me into leaving the service to our amazing country. I have always been a flag waiver, and very patriotic. God Bless America......more to follow
After my enlist...Expand for more
ment was up my wife then told me if i re-enlisted again she would leave, dang if i had only knew how much easier my life would have been.....lol, I left the military and 4 years later Divorced.
I attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelors of Forestry degree, I raised my 4 daughters alone, I think thats how my sensitive side was perfected, LOL. I was a prospector in Arizona, and Yes I found some gold, and even helped in the recovery of a large meteorite!!!
I worked as a ranger in the US Forest Service, the Department of Defense (as a Forester) I was the Director of Parks and Recreation in Benson Arizona. (worked with Janet Napiltano the Director of Homeland Security) I'm a very happy guy, who is always up for a challenge I plan to be around for many new endeavors..
Update...It's cold in Northern Michigan, and i know a place halfway arount the world that never gets cold, so............on January 17th I'll be moving to the Philippine Islands, I plan on living on a small island called Cebu. The weather is warm, the water is clear and the fish are biting......did i mention bikinis? I'll be there for the duration, but will come home yearly i think....
I love my life!!!!
