Tom Hegna:  

Life Tom Hegna was born and raised in Glenwood, Minnesota. He attended North Dakota State University on a 4 year Army ROTC Scholarship. He graduated as a distinguished Military Graduate, with honors in 1983 earning 3 majors in 4 years – Economics, Business Administration, and German. He served in a number of Military Intelligence assignments in West Germany and the United States including commanding a unit in the 7th Infantry Division (Light). He recently retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Prior to retiring, he was commander of the 301st Military Intelligence Battalion in Phoenix, Arizona, working counterterrorism operations in SE Asia. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. His awards and decorations include: The Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Navy Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the Overseas’ Ribbon and the Army Reserves Overseas’ Ribbon. In November 1988, Tom started his career in the insurance industry with MetLife. He qualified for membership into the Million Dollar Round Table in each of his first three years.
