Tom's Story

Workplace I graduated from college and got a job in politics. For a few years I continued working political jobs including Capitol Hill and numerous campaign positions. I then became employed in Defense, with one of the "Beltway Bandits" in Northern Virginia. I did Defense work for a number of years, traveling to Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Mexico, Egypt and the Philippine Islands. I became proficient in computers and entered Information Systems management. I worked 3rd level support contracts at Ethyl and Philip Morris in Richmond, Dupont in Wilmington, DL, GlaxoSmithKline in ...Expand for more
King of Prussia, PA, and finally Dominion back in Richmond. Then I was offered a job at a small but allegedly growing company close to DC. It was "Job from Hell, Coworkers from Hell, and Boss from Hell and Commute from Hell," all rolled into one wonderful package. But everything happens for a reason. Because of this rotten job, I began looking seriously at other opportunities. And because I was again near DC, I looked for positions with the Federal government. And guess what? I am now a diplomat serving with the State Department at the American Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
