My Spouse
Kathy and I met during a brief stint in Western Kansas. As Paul Harvey said, "Colby is not the end of the world, but you can see it from there."
Kathy is the best thing that came out of my time there. :)
My Pets
The cat is bigger than the dog (Pomerian). We live on campus at historic Fort Omaha and the dog is referred to as "the terror of the Fort."
My Job
It's great. I'm Dean of Computer Technology and Visual Arts. Metro Community College is the second largest undergraduate institution in Nebraska. I enjoy the people I work with and especially enjoy seeing the success of our students.
My office is in the original headquarters building of the Fort Commander. Built in the late 1800's it overlooks the original parade ground.

he campus. We opted to look for a house off campus. Honestly hadn't planned to stay in Omaha more than a couple of years. We figured set up their online program and move on-- maybe back to Kansas. How long a run could online have anyway? Who still has a laser disk player, right? Today online is often our largest campus and my career as the next Nostradamus came to an end. Kathy was a principal at a local elementary school until she was recruited to another district. She has always felt most at home in what are called Title schools or basically high poverty areas. About 13 years ago I got the crazy idea that the community college should bring leading edge businesses to campus. After a 5 minute pitch to the architects and 10 years of work, that building, the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology exists today. I have the pleasure of running it. I have to admit it's been fun-- and certainly nothing I would have predicted sitting on a school bus in the parking lot of ITHS my senior year.
