Tom's Story
I was in New Hyde Park Memorial from the first year it opened until the start of 11th grade.I graduated from a different school and lost touch with my friends at Memorial. We were together from NHP Road School and Manor Oaks and I will always consider myself part of the class of 1962.
Some of my happiest times and fondest memories were hanging out with my friends in New Hyde Park. I used to go to Teen Town friday nights. Mr. Heroy was in charge.
Tom Herman and I met in Kindergarden at New Hyde Park Road School.and have been friends ever since. Vic Kane and I used to work on cars together.Maybe I'll be able to reach some of my other friends on this site.
In 1966 I was in Vietnam. I graduated from college on the GI Bill. I spent most of my career as ...Expand for more
an Industrial Engineer involved in the aerospace and nuclear industries and traveling extensively. Eventually I earned an MA from Cal State University and became a middle and high school teacher and industrial trainer before retiring in 2000.
My current age is 70. When I was 12, I thought that people over 30 were worn out and ready to haunt me in the distant future.I didn,t realize that someday I would be an older version of my 12 year old self and still wouldn,t know what I wanted to be when I grow up.
I started riding motorcycles in 1960 and still ride.I am a member of the patriot guard riders. I still love the ocean and remember Jones Beach and the outdoor theater. Guy Lombardo and his boat, archery.and the restaurant.-Jones Beach had it all.
