Tom's Story
Life
After H.S. spent 7 yrs. US Coast Guard. Stationed Yorktown, Va., Maui Hi on cutter Cape Newagen for 4 yrs,Engineering Officer of Station Islamorada, in the Fla. Keys (Sportfishing Capitol of the World) 3yrs.Met first wife on Maui. Janell my oldest daughter born in the Keys. Jessica 2yrs later born at HMC.Divorse after 14 years, kids stayed with me. In 1985, as a passenger, survived a near fatal car wreck - had to be cut out of the car. (Every Day is a Gift!). Met my present Bride of 26 years, country western dancing! Dan lived with us till after college, Charisse was married just before her Mom and I. We now have 9 Grandkids. Some of the kids have taken turns moving back in during divorces and other disasters. Charlotte's Mom moved in a few years ago. Our fur and feather kids are a bird Max (Sun Conyour), Audrey Hepburn, our faithful Gordan setter mix, and Jack Sparrow a professional cat. After owning a couple salons Charlotte retired from being a hairdresser/barbor in Clinton . I work as a machinist, maintenance lead and purchasing agent for WestRock. I also own my own machine shop.We own 31 acreas in Bradford co. Pa on the Susquehanna River that is our get away.Hobbies run from the usual; reading,cooking, hunting, fishing, travel, golf, camping, gardening, watching NASCAR on TV, to the unusual; Civil War - Commander 15th N.J. volunteer infantry, member "Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War", member North-South Skirmish Association. s, do living history displays, some reenacting, collect artifacts. I shoot competitively at the national level with civil war muskets, carbines, pistol and cannon. I shoot locally in a few archery leagues. Charlotte and I dance at Civil War "Balls", enjoy traveling to NASCAR races around the country. Previously raced at Flemington and Bridgeport speedways, now Go-Karts, was crewmember of the museum ship, "John W. Brown" (Project Liberty Ship) Baltimore, Md. Our newest hobby is raising Dahlias. (Over 1,200 plants) My Bride sells the cut blooms and we travel summer weekends to shows throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic showing our blooms. Soon to come; "Blue Ribbon Dahlias". Currently writing a book on the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry in the Civil War, the regiment of which my G.G.Grandfather, Stephen V. Shipman was Brevet Colonel. I portray him in first person at Civil War round tables, museums, reenactments etc. One or two trips a year are spent in the midwest , Georgia and Alabama as a guest speaker on the 1st Wisconsin Cav. Building a retirement home up at our place in the Endless Mountains has been postponed due to a Natural Gas well on our property.

Jessie's husband Josh is currently in the U.S. Army. He has had multiple deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. So PROUD of our Son-In-Law!
