Tom's Story
Life
After graduating from BHS in 1965, I attended SUATC at Farmingdale and then SUNY at Buffalo graduating in 1969 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I worked for the Bell System for 32 years from Western Electric to AT&T Network Systems to Bell Labs and finally to Lucent Technologies. I retired in 2000 and went on to work for NMS Communications for 2 more years and then got laid off. I was still looking for employment while at the same time enjoying the life of retirement. In 2006, I got a part-time job as a contractor working for Alcatel-Lucent doing the same job I had 30 years ago - providing technical support to telephone companies with their 1A Electronic Switching Systems. I work at home for 8 hours a week. Not a lot of hours, but the commute is great.
I was married, got divorced and am now happily re-married living in a 55+ development in New Hope, PA.

but have slowed down a bit since then. I was an active skydiver making over 800 jumps. I then moved from above the ground to below the water now enjoying scuba diving. I am a very part-time amatuer astronomer and just recently took up kayaking. Growing up in Baldwin, I have always loved the water. My next project is an old 1971 Honda CB450 Police Special motorcycle that I want to get restored and ride.
In 2007 I bought my first motorcycle, a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT and I thoroughly enjoy riding it, weather permitting, in PA. I plan on going on a cross-country ride this summer with my brother-in-law from Clearwater, FL. We'll be riding about 4,700 miles from the east coast to CA.
As it turns out, the cross-country motorcycle trip was over 6,000 miles and was an adventure of a lifetime. We had great weather for all 3 weeks and got to see a lot of this beautiful country we live in.
