Tommy's Story
As some of you know a large group of guys from the class of 66 was drafted in September 1967. I immediately went to Vietnam as a light weapons infantryman. 1968 was a rough year in vietnam. I then applied for and went to the Army's helicopter pilot course and it took five years to get in the course I made it. During the time from 1968 to 1972 I walked around Vietnam and lived in Okinawa, Japan and Manila Philippines. In 1972 - 73 I attended flight school at Mineral Wells, Texas and Fort Rucker, Alabama. I became a pilot in the Army AH-1 Cobra Attack helicopter. During those years I lived in M...Expand for more
anhattan, Kansas, Hawaii, South Korea, and Germany. I worked at the Pentagon in Alexandria VA and flew Beechcraft airplanes at the flight detachment at Fort Belvior, VA. I then moved to Japan to fly Cessina Citation Jet aircraft around asia. I retired from the military after 35 years in 2003. I went to work for the Army as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager in S. Korea and Hawaii. I currently live in Honolulu, Hawaii.
My life was a gift, I think I made the best of it. Grew up appreciating better things in life than I did as a punk on the streets of Dog Town when I when to Southwest.
