Bill's Story

Life I was born in Jersey City Medical Center: 1944. Lived at 505,30th Street (corner building) Bergenline Ave. Union City. We had the top floor apt. and the best view of New York, the Meadow Lands and the 32nd Street area. I had two older brothers: Charlie and Harry Lake.Our close neighbors and best friends were the Webb and Gallotti families. The serious illness and subsequent early death of my Mother at age 42 resulted in me living with other relatives out of the area as a young teenager, hence I lost contact with those friends that I knew since a child.As I look back, all those people me...Expand for more
ant a lot to me.They are part of those great young years I remember growing up in Union City. I joined the US Army in January,1962 with my good friend Wally Copeland. He changed his mind and I went alone. I was stationed in Germany for 30 months. I was discharged in December 1964.I married and moved to Bergen County,(Maywood and Dumont)in 1967.I moved to Florida in 1974 and have been in the same house since and own a condo in Sarasota,Fl., married 37 years.I guess as you get older you tend to stop and look back at your past with good memories and curiosity about those that were a part of it.
