Tonya's Story
Life
I have 3 children - Amber and Cheyenne and Caitlyn.
After high school, I attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. I received a softball scholarship but ripped my rotator during my freshman year and never played again. I did however stay on as manager until spring 1989.
I married Kyle Krall in 1989 and our daughter, Amber, was born in 1990. We divorced in 1996 at which time Amber and I moved back with my mom. We lived with my mother until July 1997 when I married Gary Curry. I met Gary while we were both working at the Hutchins Unit - he was a Sergeant and I was the Warden's Secretary.
Gary is from a little town in Oklahoma. He is currently a Captain with the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and is currently working on a 2nd degree in Business Management.
In July 2003 we left the DFW area and moved to Huntsville because Gary wanted me to finish college, which I did in May 2005. I received my Bachelor in Business Administration...Expand for more

We are very active in our church youth group with the Huntsville Church of Christ.
I am actively involved with Girl Scouts for 20 years between Amber and Cheyenne.
Workplace
After leaving college when I had Amber, I started working for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice. I worked in several departments in the Huntsville area until Feb 1995 when I transferred to a unit located in Hutchins (South Dallas). I was the Warden's Secretary there until Oct 1999 when I left to work closer to home. I worked for a small contractor as Administrative/Human Resource secretary and also worked for an Allstate insurance agent until we moved to Huntsville in July 2003. After earning my degree, I returned to Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice in the Human Resource Headquarters in the EEO department. I then went on to work Criminal Records doing background work for all employees while they are hiring. I'm currently the HR supervisor at the Wynne Unit since April 2009 and love it!
