Tracy's Story

Life I just relocated from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Albuquerque, New Mexico with my husband and four children. Brian is 19 and is in college, Brianna is 16 and just completed 10th grade, Carson is 5 and Emily my baby is 4. I just resigned from FedEx after 10 years as a project manager, programmer and database administrator to stay at home with the kids and to continue with my 2nd year of law school. My husband is an Engineer and works in the coal power generation industry. We enjoy vacationing and going to sporting events. I am also a Guardian Ad Litem for the Sandoval County Family Court where I represent children that are abused or neglected. I would love to talk to people from high school. It is so fun to look on here and see pictures of everyone and read about how they are doing! I look forward to our 20 year reunion this summer. WOW do I feel old - how did that happen? 20 years went by in a flash! Please leave me a message here :) School I loved Westlake High School! I wish I would have applied myself more and would have been more involved! It is funny that I find myself telling my kids how important it is for them to involve themselves in school, yearbook committee, clubs, sports, etc. I remember thinking back that I was only interested in my friends and having fun back then! If we only knew then, right? I remember that my favorite teacher was Mr. Miller, Biology Mr. Miller, not Math Mr. Miller. He was so cool! I also remember that Ms. Frantz, geometry was my least favorite teacher! I also remember that I loved to fight in high school, which is really so funny because if someone approached me now and said they were going to kick my butt, I would either run the other way or pay them off to leave me alone :) When you have your own kids and they approach high school age you start to remember all the things that you did that were 'bad' and then get scared to death that your kids will pull crap like that! Thankfully I have a son who is over that period now, not to say he did not give me a huge challenge. Let's just say I got pay back for how I acted.... My daughter has pulled a few things, but overall she is a good girl with excellent grades! I figure I cannot win all the battles with my kids, but the grades one is non-negotiable.... My little ones are going to private Christian school so hopefully things will be a little calmer with them :) I also remember that although we had fads and clothing was important, there was not the Hollister and Abercrombie like the...Expand for more
kids have today! I cannot imagine that I would have asked my mother for jeans that cost $60.00 or a hoodie that is almost $100.00 like my daughter gets, my Mom would have said no way... I remember Jordache Jeans were the thing in 7th and 8th grade and when I got a pair, I thought I was it :) College I did not go to college as a traditional student because I got married in November of 1988, right after high school, and had a baby in March of 1989. I put college off for a few years until I was ready and my 2 babies were a little older. I first went to Tri-C and got my Paramedic degree (2 year). I worked for the City of East Cleveland for 3 years as a paramedic on the graveyard shift. It was very stressful at the time and dangerous since our ambulance had several bullet holes in it. I went back to college and started taking business classes and accounting classes. I earned an associates degree in accounting from Cleveland State and went to work for a large public accounting firm downtown. I worked there for 5 years and another company for 2 years. I started working in the IT field while at the accounting firm. I was divorced from my husband and father to my 2 children in 1996, Brian Salsbury after 8 years of marriage and restarted my life. I raised my 2 children on my own for a few years until I met and married my husband in 1999. I relocated to Cuyahoga Falls when we were married. We have been married ever since and added 2 children to our family, one in November 2002 and one in May 2004 after several years of infertility and shots and fertility treatments. I continued college classes through the years and finished up at University of Akron with a bachelors degree in Information Technology. I started working for FedEx in Akron in 1999 right after I got remarried to my husband as a programmer and network administrator. I decided that I really wanted to fulfill my dream of becoming a lawyer in early 2007. I took the LSAT and submitted my application to 4 law schools. I am now in my 2nd year. I love it, and realize that this is definitely my calling. I have become involved in many different areas of the law in addition to my law school. I am a Guardian Ad Litem for the Sandoval County Family Court where I represent children who have been removed from their homes for neglect, or abuse. I truly enjoy trying to make the lives of these children better and safer. I have also been involved in the Safe Surrender Program lead by the United States Marshall Service this year.
