Trayton's Story

Life Let's see here...i'll try to make it all seem interesting :). as some of you probably knew, i joined the army reserves during the spring if grade 11, and went on basic training that summer...great way to lose weight if anyone was wondering (i could lose a little now myself). Still don't know where i lost it from seeing as i was so skinny back then! anyways, after grade 12 i moved to MRC for a couple years, and every summer went to CFB Wainwright (Alta) for training and/or taskings in CFB Shilo (Man). after the two years in MRC i moved on to UofC, where i pretty much wasted my time to be brutally honest. i kinda burned out so i basically "posted" myself to wainwright where i worked with the regular force (but was still in the reserves) for about 4 years doing all sorts of taskings and jobs). i finished off my diploma so that my four years of courses wouldn't be totally wasted, and came back to calgary. I also applied to the regular forces around this time, but due to bureaucrats in ottawa, i STILL have no firm answer, (3 years and counting. MEDICS!!!!) anyways, since then i've been working mostly with the army at the three bases in calgary and looking for "real" work. I finished a certificate at SAIT for Cable Technicians (fibre-optics and copper cable stuff), but it doesn't pay as well as the army, so i keep on going back to the trough....oh well. things are starting to move again though so who knows.....anyways, life has been fun, if not according to any plan...and hey, what the hell is the point of life if you can't enjoy it! (oh yeah, and somewhere in that mess i switched my name back to turner instead of turner-greene, too many hand cramps :) ). i'm going to try and upload some pics to the albums. Update: Got married in 2001, separated in 2005, divorced in 2007, engaged to a girl i was dating during my separation in 2007, and broke that off in nov 2007 (she found that a lot of other guys attention was more important to her than mine), and now planning to live the single life again for a while. bought and sold and moved houses a few times, but currently living in Coach Hill, in Calgary still. who knows where i'll go from here... School Did two years at MRC. Got a certificate of GS. Continued at U of C for another two years, but lost drive and direction so i took a "break" (ref military career). Came back for six months to complete my diploma for MRC. Took more courses (2002 winter) from MRC towards a telecommunications certificate, and finished courses at SAIT as well in 2003 for better employment opportunities in fibre optics and copper cable intallation. icate, and am taking further courses at SAIT as well in 2003 for better employment opportunities. Nothing permanent yet....oh well. Workplace See Military Bio. involves only short term jobs between full-time contracts with the army. Lots of full time contracts. Recently got promoted to MCpl (2009). Military Joined the Reserves in 1993. Did basic training that summer in Wainwright. Completed basic Infantry training the following summer (1994). Worked the following two summers for money and experience (in CFB Wainwright) and took Drivers, Communications, and Machine Gun courses during the winters. Got promoted to Corporal in 1996. Summer of 1997, took the Junior Leadership Course (top third), but elected to not take the Junior NCO (part 2 basically) as it would have guaranteed a promotion, and limited my employability). Did a brief stint in CFB Shilo in 1997 as well as Demo Platoon (enemy force) for another leadership course,(had a blast). In 1998, went up to CFB Wainwright "for the summer". Didn't come home till early 2000, had fun in various jobs and positions, working full time with courses running out of the base. Returned to Calgary for six months to complete a diploma, the went right back to CFB Wainwright for another year. Came home "for good" in the fall of 2001 and went on another Communications course in CFB Edmonton, followed by an Instructors course the next month, also in Edmonton. Took jobs at the Headquarters in Calgary before going to CFB Shilo in 2002 (april) took do a range clearance. Left Shilo to take part in the G-8 riots ... i mean security, back in Calgary, and was then sent to CFB Edmonton to work for the PPCLI who were preparing to go overseas on roto to Yugoslavia. Before the end of the summer (august), was given an opportunity to extend my contract and work in CFB Suffield on the range control Fire Crews. i did, though there were no fires. finally i returned to Calgary to help the support staff in the NE armoury. Update: Went back to suffield again and did fight a huge number of fires of varying sizes...very cool, but rather hot. and nervous sometimes. Eventually went back to Calgary yet again, and worked out of Mewata Armouries downtown. a few life changes later, i was sort of pushed into becoming a clerk, and started taking those courses back in 2005. have been working in that trade since then until present. Update: Finished all the basic courses, went to Suffield yet again, but as a clerk this time. Broke off my engagement which was at this time due to her extra-curricular activities, and returned to calgary to try to save my house which i had to buy her out of. Succeeded so far. Promoted to Master Corporal fall 2009, and looking to the future now alone in the military, finding the path to further advancement hopefully. Continuing to help run things at Mewata ASC again as 2I/C now. Hoping that life continues to improve gradually again. :-)
