Trella's Story
I majored in Business when I was in school, and sang in the Glee Club, which I loved a lot. Unfortunately, I don't have the voice I had back then. This is the one sad moment in my life. Everyone's into Karaoke, and I can't do what I used to do. I truly miss it. I worked in the School Office as a switchboard operator for the three years I was there. That was back when High School was 10th, 11th and 12th grade. I feel it should be that way again. I don't believe a 9th grader (ages 14-15) belongs with 17 & 18 yr. old kids. Too many bad habits can be learned and imitated. Younger kids can't be as responsible as the older kids. Anyway, that's my opinion.
I got married while I was still in high school, but divorced a little over 2 yrs. later. I've been married 2 more times since, but the last one ended up with my 48 yr.old husband dying from a massive brain aneurysm. He went to sleep one day, and never woke up. That was on January 20, 2010. We were married 20 yrs. I did have another relationship that lasted over 4 yrs. that produced one of the finest young men in the world, my son Juney, in 1984. His father died in 1989, so my last husband raised him. We all came from a motorsports background, so naturally it was my son's destiny to get into it to. He has an '06 Screaming Yellow Mustang GT with several "bells & whistles" that he shows and races on the dragstrip. That's where the Profile Pic is from. It was taken at Bithlo.
Me, well, since my husband died, my life is Car Shows and Rodeos with my son. Which, buy the way keeps us quite busy. There are usually 2- 3 shows a month, and Rodeos 2-4 times a year. It's kinda cool, I'm into cars, because my late husband was one of the best mechanics in the area. He taught me how to work on cars with him. He was my true hero. I don't know of anything he couldn't fix. ...Expand for more
We had a small auto repair shop here in Oak Hill. When people ask me what kind of work I was doing when I retired, I tell them I was a auto mechanic and they look at me funny. But, I truly enjoyed working with my hands. I was an office manager/bookkeeper most of my life, but got burned out on it. That's when I started working on cars. My son has picked riight up where his dad left off. Only problem, cars nowadays are soooo much more technical. I'm still trying to learn all the gargon they speak when our Car Club gets together. (Go to Midstate Muscle on FB). I am a NASCAR and NHRA enthusiast. (Can't imagine why)
I have a big, black Shep/Lab that's my steady companion. He hears every sound, and when he does, my in-laws, next door can hear him quite clearly. I also have (ahem) SEVERAL cats, but I've really got to get rid of them. Besides the cost of food, they are going to start multiplying faster than rabbits, and I can't afford to get them all "fixed".
I live alone (with the exception of U.G.(dog) and the cats, and live within 50ft. of my sister-in-law and her husband. When my husband died, my Mother-In-Law made it clear that I was FAMILY. So, here I am, in Oak Hill, where I've lived since 1986, retired and really quite content. My son and I also go to family cookouts (boy, that's a hoot). Throw in about 25-30 backwoods rednecks with guns, trucks and hot cars in a group, stir in a liquid libation, a karaoke machine and watch the fun begin.
But it's my life, and I'm happy with it. We understand each other, and would fight to the death if anybody messed with any of us. I'd rather live this way than in a stuffy uptown environment.
I like to play with my dog, read books about haunted places in Florida, and watch T.V. Especially shows like NCIS, CSI, CSI-NY and CSI-Miami, and I like Disaster Movies on SyFy.
