Tricia's Story

Okay, well first off some of you know me as "Tricia" and others as "Trish".. its actually Patricia so I have gone by Both... .. I Graduated from High School at Mountain View In Arizona in 1988 (prior to that I had gone to HortinWatkins/Ladue High School)... After that I attended Maryville University.. I graduated with a BA in Communications and a Minor in Psychology.. I also have a Diploma in Medical assisting From Sanford Brown.... i'm Currently between Jobs however have been Volunteering For Hospice for over 7 years now... I also in the past Volunteered for the Missouri Wildlife Rescue Center...I have worked a lot in Nursing homes, mostly in Activities... Recently I have been considering going back to school to get my Masters.. I would like to get it in Social Work and become a Hospice Social worker..that is my Dream Job... by the way for those of you who thought of me as a "Space Cadet", well you were right, sometime in my late 20's I was officially Diagnosed as having ADHD.. The first time I took Ritalin I totally couldn't believe how well it helped me focus... it had side effects however.. one of the main ones was the "let down" that you get when it wears off... so Most of the time even though I had the Diagnose I hadn't been taken anything for it... I recently started taking Strattera and once again am Truly amazed... I swear if I had had this stuff back when I was a kid in School I could have been a straight "A" student...and for all the teachers who intentionally called on me when you knew I wasn't paying attention, I'm sure at the time you thought you were doing the right thing, but the Truth is, I couldn't help it.. Yes, it embarrassed me when I would be called on and didn't know the answer because I wasn't paying attention, and yes I often was made fun of it because of it, but by deliberately calling on me when you knew I wasn't paying attention did nothing more then hurt my self esteem..and the bottom line was, I couldn't help it... I forgive you because I know that very little was known about "ADHD" at that time.. also I wasn't Particularly Hyper back then(in fact I was rather quiet and shy) and they didn't realize that ADHD did not always require that the person be hyperactive..I forgive the teachers who did that because as I have stated ADHD was hardly known about back then.. anyway, I never married, but am Currently dating a man who is 45.. He is a professional Musician and very Talented... I would Marry him in a heart Beat, but realistically don't know if it will ever come to that, for he is still not even officially divorced from his wife (She walked out on him)...I currently have no Children but am still hoping, though at 38 my time clock is Definitely Ticking...by the way, so i've been told I apparently still have a bit of a scratchy Voice.. for whatever reason it tends to Crack at times... during about 7th grade It was really bad... I don't know why, but I do still apparently have some problems with my V...Expand for more
oice..but hey, that's me and if somebody doesn't like me for who I am then "F*ck em"...why am I 38 and never been Married? I'm picky I guess.. Ive dated a lot, but just never met the right one... But am now hoping that my Current guy will be that one.I'm very young looking... At 38 I still often get Carded, which I guess is a good thing...anyway, does anyone have any questions? Hope everything is going well with everybody!!! one more thing.. This is to the Faculty at Hortin Watkins/Ladue High School.. Why pray tell did you keep sticking me in those underachiever Classes???? Those classes are no good for anybody... Didn't you people realize that nobody tried to do well in those classes because hey, big deal you got a good grade in an underachiever Class.. Hardly anything to write home about!! and just makes students feel bad about themselves and most of all it "Labels" students... I always felt that the Ladue school district went out of its way to Label students... when my Family moved to Arizona just before I started my Junior Year, the school I attended there had no such classes.. All students had to attend the same classes.. My Grads improved Dramatically!! you know why?? I Actually cared!!! I'm sorry to say But if I ever have children I would never want them in the Ladue School District because they simply Label students too much and it is unfair..Hurray for Mountain View for not having those kinds of Classes...was I put in these classes because I did poorly on those standardized Tests that you had to take every year... u know those Tests that supposedly didn't mean anything... well, since I was always told they didn't mean anything (I guess they were trying to help the students who had test anxiety) I didn't try.. in fact I never even read the questions... and after talking to a number of people in my adult life... I have found that I was definitely not the only one who did this.. basically randomly filling in spots without even reading the questions.. Part of this may have been because I Have ADHD and those kinds of tests are particularly hard to concentrate on (they were so boring) but the other part was I simply didn't care because we were repeatedly told they didn't mean anything...anyway, I'm starting to Rambling and I'm also starting to complain which I shouldn't be doing.. The past is the past...I guess I'm just mentioning these things in case any Faculty reads this, they wont make these mistake with kids in the Future.... Labeling students is wrong.... Anyway, life is going fine for me, hope everyone else is doing well...God Bless to all.. also, for those of you who Knew my Brother Brian Welch (Who graduated from Hortin Watkins/Ladue High School in 1985) I wanted to share the sad news (for those who may not know.. I think most do) that on September 8, 1989 Brian was Killed in an Automobile accident.. he was 22 years of age at the Time, and was currently a student at Missouri University in Columbia (AKA Mizzou).
