Trig's Story

Here i™s what I ha™ve been up to since graduating from Emil R. Buchser High School in 1962. I went to San Jose State College. While there, my older sister, Kay, Class of 1960, died in a tragic car accident. I completed a bachelor degree in biology and began a secondary teaching credential. I tried high school student teaching and quickly realized that I was more likely to survive by going into the Army. I enlisted in the Army and went to officer candidate school. I was commissioned an officer and spent two years in Germany and a year in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. After Vietnam, the Army sent me to a four-star Army headquarters in Metro Washington, DC. I completed a masters degree in business at The George Washington University. I left active duty after nine years and went into management consulting and the Army Reserves. I travelled to all fifty states, Europe, Japan, and South Pacific. I also spent a year on active duty in the Pentagon at the end of Desert Storm. I was a Judge-Referee in the US Rowing Association. I published a guide book for new rowing officials who...Expand for more
, like me, had never been in one of those silly boats. I officiated high school, club, college, and international regattas and Olympic trials. At age fifty, I rode a bicycle across the country. I went into the business of turning around distressed ski resort hotels in Montana and Colorado. I also took up canoeing, snowboarding and rollerblading. I started a business in Durango, Colorado and went bust. I returned to consulting in Richmond, Virginia. I retired from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-eight years. I was married for thirty-two years, just not to the same woman. I met Gwynn in Richmond. We built a beautiful home on seven acres of hardwood forest in rural Virginia. We retired and are living in Wilmington, North Carolina. My wonderful daughter and two adorable, but too dang smart, grandchildren live in Galveston, Texas. My sister, Nan, Class of 1964, lives in Morgan Hill, California. She is retired. She has two super children and two beautiful grandchildren.
