Trista's Story

I now live in Virginia/DC area with my husband, Jose' and our 2 kids, Caleb(5yrs) and Chloe(2yrs). We have been here for 2 years and should be here another 1-2yrs. Before here we were in Montgomery, AL for a yr., Germany 3yrs., Montgomery 3 yrs., Guam 1 1/2 yrs, Germany 2 yrs for Jose and 3mos for me...which takes us to Europe where we met. Jose' was in Germany on his 2nd AF assignment and I was living in Europe as a nanny. I stopped going to college after 3 yrs and decided to move to France to be a nanny. I started in Versaille, France where I nannied with a French family for a year. I traveled to Italy on my vacations and loved it so much that I decided to move there. I lived in Verona, Italy and bummed off my brother while doing odd jobs for a year and spent time traveling with him and my sister, Lisa. We traveled around Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and I went to Greece. I found a job with an Italian family and I spent a year with them. Then I moved out to Lake Garda(about 30 minutes east of Verona) and shared an apt. with an Italian woman for about a yr and worked in a pizzeria for about 6 months. After 3 yrs in Italy I found a job in Holland with a Dutch family and stayed with them for about 1 1/2 yrs. During that time I met Jose' and we traveled as much of Europe as we could during our vacations. We traveled to Italy, I always have to go back there as there is still a piece of my heart and my second family. We also went to Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Czech Republic, Gibraltar, Austria, Switzerland. While in Guam ...Expand for more
we learned to scuba dive and traveled to Hawaii, Bali and went diving in Palau. Our second time in Germany we added The Philippines, Poland, London and Hungary to our list and revisited some of our old stomping grounds. We also added a child to the mix, Caleb was born exactly one year, to the day, after we arrived in Germany. That was a great assignment, full of family from both sides. My brother was already there, my mom moved in with us when Caleb was 3 wks old and Jose's brother and his family moved there a month after that. Now we are trying to take advantage of what DC has to offer and do a little traveling around here. We go down to SC to see Jose' family a couple times a yr or so. I go to Oregon about once a yr with the kids. I went back to Germany last yr for my brother's 40th...I'm still trying to scheme a trip back to Italy. We just returned from a month of travel to NYC, Philadelphia, Niagara Falls, Toronto and then down to Myrtle Beach, Charleston and over to Montgomery, AL. Besides traveling I also enjoy photography. My current goal is to take a class to learn how to use all/most of the functions on my camera. With 2 small children running around it's hard to get any one thing fully accomplished so my photography is trial and error. Another thing I used to enjoy more, now it is more of a chore, is cooking. At best I like to make things up but these days I'm just trying to figure out what I can throw together with one child hanging on me and the other trying to figure out what he can snack on while dinner is being made. I hope to see a lot of you at our reunion soon.
