Troy's Story

Life Out of high school, I joined the Army and became a helicopter pilot. After the Army, I met the love of my life, Marla. Also after the Army, I went to college and went into the Air Force as a pilot after graduation. My first assignment was as a flight instructor for new college graduates joining the Air Force. After that I went to fly the A-10 fighter plane, the tank killer. I had assignments in the A-10 in Myrtle Beach, Korea, Arizona and Alaska. I retired from the AF in 1997 and went to work for Fed Ex. Currently, I'm a co-pilot on the MD-11 and fly all over the world. My wife, Marla retired from full-time teaching, but still teaches reading for kids needing help for the Desoto County Schools District just outside of Memphis. My daughter, Erin, is a nurse practitioner and works in neonatal intensive care at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Erin and John, have 3 kids: Luke, Charlie, and Elizabeth. My oldest son, Matt, completed his masters degree in Business Adminstration in May 2008, and works for Nuvasive, a medi...Expand for more
cal device company in Nashville which specializes in spinal implants. Matt and Angela have 2 kids: Dylan and Madison. My youngest son, Neil, completed his masters degree in taxation and works for Dixon, Hughes, Goodman in Greenville, SC. Neil and Rachel have 2 girls: Anna and Brooke. At 55, I took up running again after many years. My passion has become marathon running. I just completed my 12th marathon on April 22,2017 and ran fast enough to qualify again for the Boston Marathon in 2018. I've also run the Boston Marathon in 2015 and 2016. I have to stay in good physical condition to keep up with 7 grandkids. The last 2 of 5 king snake babies hatched out today. I released the first 3 into the brush pile behind our house. Tomorrow I plan on releasing these two in the same spot. Marla will miss them, NOT!
I have to believe there are In and Out cheeseburgers and fries served in heaven.

Our 38th anniversary dinner at the Shorebird Restaurant in Waikiki, Hawaii. This place has been an institution in Honolulu, but the owners are retiring in 33 more days and it's closing. Wonderful place!
Elizabeth and Grandpa getting some one on one time this morning. After lunch, a game of checkers on the porch.
Grammy and Elizabeth doing gymnastics. I’m betting that Grammy will need an Advil tonight.

Happy birthday to my most awesomest wife. I love you very much.
Marla, back at ya
Does anyone know what this is? I’ve never seen anything like it. It has legs like a spider and a couple of very long fangs.

My family is all in for the Boston Marathon on Monday. The 2 empty shoes are for Neil and Rachel who couldn’t be here, but are here in spirit. I’ve got a wonderful supportive family. I just hope they are at the finish line
