Tura's Story

Hi Friends, I hope you are all well and that life has been kind to you. When in Austin, Texas, let me know! After Westport High, I went to Swarthmore College and graduated in 1975 with a major in Latin. Such was the influence of WHS Latin teacher Helen Biery and a dynamic classics faculty at Swarthmore. dministration from the LBJ School at UT Austin, I went to DC in 1981 to find work in foreign policy or cultural exchange. My job hunt was unsuccessful and I returned to Austin where I worked various jobs and became active in the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). Working for peace in the Middle East has been a life long pursuit. I met the love of my life, Gene Cook, in 1983. We married and started a family. Our four children are now in high school, college, and out in the world. Where did the time go?? Gene is a software engineer and I currently manage the paintings of my late father, Vincent Campanella. We had a terrific retrospective show at the Albrecht Kemper Museum in St. Joe in 2007 and saw many old friends at that time. Drop me a line and let me know what you are doing. Peace, Tura
