Twilla's Story
I started Pillsbury College after high school, like a lot of the rest of you, but I returned home after about a half year.
I ended up taking baby steps to a nursing degree: first an LPN degree, then later an ADN and a few years ago I finished my bachelors degree.
I've worked in a lot of different kinds of jobs and experiemented with many types of nursing. Currently I am working from home as a telephonic nurse case manager.
Being home makes it very handy to take care of my Alaskan Malamute puppy, Koda. Chasing after her and my 3 cats keep me flexible. :-)
I divorced in 1990, but I have 2 great kids from that relationship. Chris is 22 and Patricia is 20. We have a great time together.
I enjoy scrapbooking, playing on the computer, doing puzzles, board games, road trips, watching movies, TV, walking and have recently started learning to shoot guns. Kind of quirky, eh?
I can't find my old yearbook, so I don't know how I answered the question: What do you want to be when you grow up? I think I gave the approved answer of school teacher, but what I really wanted to do was fashion design! The closest I've come is watching Project Runway on cable!! :-)...Expand for more
They are so competitive, I would never have survived! I do get a kick out of the madness, though.
Dating after the divorce was difficult. You end up with this baggage, and the only other single people around are also battle-scarred! It's like a cruel science project with some maniac at the controls. I was never that savvy about dealing with guys anyway, so I haven't done a lot of dating. In fact, I tried not to date until my kids were grown.
Oddly, about the time my daughter was in her senior year, I heard from a boy--well, a man--that I had dated back in the stone age when I was 21. We've been seeing each other since then and having a blast getting to know each other all over again. I guess God just knows when you're ready! ;-)
Seriously, my relationship with God is very important to me, although I have changed religions a few times over the years. I am currently attending a Methodist church. Our congregation is very small and most of the folks are older; they're a good group of people.
I can't imagine if any of this is interesting to you folks, or if it is the kind of thing I'm supposed to write here...
