Tyrus's Story
After moving around so much as a kid I decided to join the Army so I could move around as an adult. I became an Army Paratrooper and was stationed in many exciting places, the best of which was a three year assignment in Vicenza, Italy, just east of Venice. While assigned as an Airborne Combat Engineer with the 1st of the 509th Airbornae Battalion Combat Team, I saw much of Europe during training exercises, to include visiting East Berlin during the Cold War.
I retired from the Army in 1994 and moved to Santa Maria, California with my wife and kids. I am married to Michelle Michelle and have two children, Lucas (21) and Jessica (18). From a previous marriage I also have a daughter, Tiffany, who has two children, Christiana (8) and Shelby (2). Funny, I sure don't feel like a 'Grandpa!'
I currently live in La Quinta, CA which is part of the Palm Springs area...Expand for more
. I currently work for the Nations largest privately held builder, Shea Homes.
Although I didn't have the opportunity to actually graduate from High School due to how soon I joined the service, my heart has always been with my friends and classmates in Hoopeston. When you have a pretty tough life, it is nice to have a bright spot that you can turn to and remember. I did earn a HS Diploma from a high school in Ohio and received my BA in Business Administration from the University of LaVerne in 2000. For those of you who haven't tried going to school full-time while working and raising a family full-time, I can tell you it is a huge undertaking that almost sent me to the undertaker!
I know that while I was in high school that I wasn't a jock nor was I a very good student, but I hope that my friends would remember that I really just wanted to be a good friend.
