Val's Story
WOW ..50 years have gone by. I moved out of Franklin Square in December of 1978. I had a one year old daughter who will be 43 in September. We settled in Houston Texas and eventually bought a house in Cypress, Texas, where my kids all still live today.
We went on to have another daughter in 1986 and a son in 1988. All 3 of my children have children if their own; making me a proud grandmother of 6.
I am a widow since 2012, but we were estranged prior to his death, so there is no hard feelings.
My kids and I all thrived in Cypress and I consider this Texas Gulf Coast home. I have forged many friends and relationships throughout the years, which are all precious to me. I have many years of great memories.
I retired in July of 2019, and was diagnosed with rectal ...Expand for more
carcinoma in October of 2019.
Considering they gave me 6 days to live, I'm very grateful to my wonderful team of doctors who saved my life and my family and friends for all their support.
Sadly, I haven't kept up with anyone from the Carey class of 1971 and don't think any of you even remember me. I recognize many of the names, but like I said, I've had no nteractions with any of you in the past 50 years.
Therefore I am declining the invitation mostly because it's a long way to travel and I haven't been back to Franklin Square since I left. It's really hard to believe it's been 50 years. I've lived a great life here in Texas. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Are there many of you that still live in Franklin Square?
I hope you all have a wonderful time.
