Valarie's Story
Life
After high school, I went to Kent State (Trumbull Campus for a year and a half, and then the Main Campus). I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business (majored in Accounting) in May, 1992. After working in Public Accounting for about 4 years, I transitioned to the Corporate Accounting world. Three jobs (and a lot of work hours later), I ended up as the CFO for an International company headquartered in Aurora, Ohio in the business of energy efficient lighting. (It is a great company for which to work, and if you have not switched your incandescent bulbs to CFL's yet, you should!!)
I got married in May, 1994 to my husband, Derrick. We have lived in the NE Ohio area our entire married life - Cortland, Aurora, and now Champion (Warren).

in right after we got married. Unfortunately, this year, we had to put her to sleep. She was like our child. Shortly before she got sick, we found out that we were about to become first time parents (to a little boy)! At the time of writing this, I am 5 days away from my due date of 10/26/07! We are still in denial and have a lot of fear of the unknown at this point, but everyone tells me that it will change our lives - and mostly for the good ;-)
I am very happy where I am in my life right now. I am surrounded by great people - family and friends! I hope that you find yourself in a similar place in your life - right where you want to be...or at least on track to getting there!
I also hope to see other Howland Class of '87 alumni in November at the 20 year reunion!
