as my first experience of being empowered and fighting for my rights. At San Lorenzo Elementary I met my first friend Patty Soto. She later went to high school with me at King City High School. We lost contact for a while because my family bought their first home in Greenfield, California near freeway 101.
I went to 3rd grade in Mrs. Fishers classroom in Greenfield Primary School. I graduated from Greenfield Middle School, King City High School (1983), San Diego State University (1988,1992) and Harvard University (1993). I am an educator, community activist, photographer and artist. I have two masters degrees. I got married in 1996 and I have 3 children. I live in San Diego, California. I am a strong advocate for bilingual education and the GATE Program.
