Valerie's Story
I was a single-parent - must have done something right - my son graduated from Penn State, and has been teaching high school for the past 5 or 6 yrs. He teaches English, Journalism, Public Speaking, is on the Newspaper, on the Yearbook committee, and if he has time - helps with school musicals/plays. He got promoted to Dept Head of the English department last year, and also got his Masters degree. (he always had a great work ethic since he was 15- Thank God!).
In a nutshell: I did some modeling in my mid-twenties to early thirties; became PA-State Certified as an EMT (when my mom was diagnosed with Emphysema), and volunteered with the rescue squad for a couple yrs; got laid-off from the accounting firm that I was working at and so I moved up to the Poconos (to get away from alot of stress) . . . moved back down here because the job market wasn't too good up there . . . eventually ended-up at the job that I'm at now, doing Quality Assurance monitoring on the Abbott Diabetes Care program that my company has a contract with. Each of the Quality Assurance monitors have a team of 25 customer care reps who troubleshoot/train people on blood glucose meters. Calls come in from individuals, doctors' offices, healthcare facilities, etc. , and we have to monitor so many calls per wk on eac...Expand for more
h of the reps, for FDA compliance; score their calls and provide feedback/disciplinary action to them to assist them in improving their calls. Getting tired of it, after these past couple yrs (the same story probably as at other jobs - too much work, not enough hrs to get it all done, and not provided with the properly working equipment to do it) - I would like to get back into the accounting field - preferrably Payroll . . . so if anyone knows of any job openings, let me know - I have a 98% accuracy rate . . . of course, nobody's perfect :) . (I'm also secretly aspiring to write a couple books . . . as soon as I can decide what to write about, and have the time to actually sit down and write.)
Still single - haven't found the right guy for myself yet - been dating off-and-on (can anyone tell me where all the good/sane/straight/employed/available guys are hiding?!?!)
I don't know about you, but it doesn't feel like it's been as long as it has since high school . . . it only feels like it was about maybe 15 yrs ago or so. (I did feel old when my son turned 30 last yr, though). How did the time just fly right on by???
Well . . . hope the majority of us is doing pretty well: happy, healthy (or at least semi-healthy), isn't homeless or all alone, and living life with no regrets.
