Valerie's Story
I got married right out of college (Linfield College in McMinnville, OR) and lived in several western states for five years before moving to Alaska late '88. We have bounced around many parts of the state - Barrow, Kotzebue (both in the Arctic), Emmonak (briefly, on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta), Unalaska (the Aleutian chain), and now Palmer (a small farming community on the road system). My husband and I have three talented, grown daughters and now...Expand for more
nine beautiful grandchildren.
I spent the first 13 years after college as a stay-at-home mom, 20+ years in my dream career as an elementary public school teacher, and now attempting retirement. Back in 2008, I earned my Master of Science in Middle Level Education. For fun, I belong to a great book club, run, play pickleball, quilt, bake, DIY around the house, backpack, camp, and fish in the summer.
Life looks good from here, and I'm happy:-)
