Vanessa's Story
Life
Let's see, where to begin. I graduated from Greenville High in '99 and took a semester off of college to relax and have fun. I went to Greenville Tech for 1 year and took another sebatical with full intentions of going back until December 13, 2002 when I had my son Jacob Austin Roberts. In January 2005 my child's father, Jason Roberts (c/o Woodmont '97) and I got married in January of 2005. My life is almost nothing like I thought it would be, but I a wonderful little boy and that's all that matters now. Being a parent really does change everything, or at least it should.
School
Wow, school. High School sucked for me until my junior year when I went to Greenville High. I'm a city girl and the country high schools I went to didn't really suit me. The people at all three schools were generally good people, some more accepting and open-minded then others, but in some cases I just made myself difficult to get along with. I hold no grudges, I'm an adult now. It didn't kill me so I am a stronger person for all the "drama" that I went through.
Blacksburg High taught me to stand up for myself and quit being such a pansy. I'm forever grateful to the gi...Expand for more
rls who basically taught me how to "throw down" by kicking my tail. The roughest year of my life, but looking back now, it was worth the walk down that road to gain the life lessons learned. (L.M.M. Rest in Peace, you are in my heart always)
Woodmont, what can I say about Woodmont? I was taught my first lesson of "you can't always get what you want" and never trust your best friend with your boyfriend, especially if she's..........well, you know who you are. Like I said, I hold no grudges but I still don't care for her. If it weren't for my time at Woodmont, I probably would have never met my husband and had such a beautiful son. By the way B.C., it took me a few years, but I'm completely over it.
Greenville, I had a blast at this school. The people were great the atmosphere was amazing and I got along with just about everyone. My best year of cheerleading and soccer were at this school. To all of my crushes, you know who you are (D.M. & M.D.), I'm sorry I never had the guts to tell you. And to the one guy who's heart I broke (R.B.), if I had it to do all over again, that's the one part that I would change completely. You will always be in my heart.
