Vanessa's Story
Still living in Springfield, behind the high school. Married 26 years, four kids, working at McKenzie Willamette Hospital since 1984.
I lead worship at my church, Lighthouse International Church, once a week and play keyboard. My husband, Dave and my son, Kyle, are both on the worship team as well.
I attended LCC after HS and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. I have worked as a Respiratory Therapist for 24 years now. I love my job.
I never moved from Springfield after graduating. As a matter of fact, I have lived within a couple of miles of the high school since graduation. Right now, we live in a home that borders the high school property.
Dave and I started having kids 7 years after we got married. Our oldest just graduated from Thurston High School. Our youngest will start middle school in the fall.
I wasn't the most popular in high school and most people won't remember me, but for those who do, I hope that the memories are good ones.
I always wanted to be a singer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were somewhat wrong.
I am now a worship leader in my church, where I get...Expand for more
to sing every Sunday and Wednesday. I don't make money singing like I wanted to, but I get to sing and I love it.
My favorite way to relax is a long, hot bath, candles, music and then a good movie in our home theater.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Tracy from Rose Elementary School, because she and I were best friends in 6th grade..
we used to walk to school every day.
She had a big sister named Eve and two older brothers. We went to church at the First Baptist Church in Roseburg, Oregon. Everyone in school teased me because David Tucker and I got braces at the same time and the big joke was that we were boyfriend and girlfriend--eew. I moved to Springfield a couple of years later and we lost touch with each other.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on debt, college funds for my kids and retirement.
My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be really old and boring. I was so completely wrong.
My first job was at McElhaney's Shoe, where I got paid too little to sell old lady shoes and loggers boots. What I remember most about it is it was BORING!!!!.
