Vanessa's Story
Life
Aloha Class of 1980. I can't believe it's been 26 years +!!! Time flies, ay? Well, I've recently moved to Washington State and love everything about it. Even the cold :-) My husband & I reside in the town of Puyallup, which is about 30 miles south of Seattle. It's wonderful to finally "spread my wings" after almost 43 years of living in Hawai'i. It's never too late, right?!?! Anyway, things are really better when you're 40. To think about all the things I use to "sweat" about when I was younger <smile>. My biggest passion, ok, second passion (my husband is my first passion, <smile>), is hula. I've been dancing since 1995. e drive). My first kumu, Leialoha Lee, retired in 2001 and I still talk to her almost every week. My second kumu, Kanani Oliveira, is a 1997 graduate of KSBE (see took over the halau when Leialoha retired). I haven't joined a halau, yet, here in Wash., but will soon. I really do miss hula, but do practice/study often. I need to keep my mana'o fresh, yeah?!? Anyway, hope that you, my fellow classmate(s) are doing great and hope that someday I will finally attend a "reunion" (my 1st & last was our 5 year reunion....sheesh). Workplace
I worked for one of Hawaii's two Petroleum refineries for 18-1/2 years as a Buyer. I'm not mentioning their name because of recent headlines about people mentioning their employer and being fired or it coming back to haunt them. I am now taking time off while I explore my new home, Washington.
