Varnell's Story
Well, I have been married now for 41 years with 3 adult children and officially 3 grandchildren. I am semi retired lol but of course as you get older SSI will not cover all your expenses so I still work. I live in Ohio just across the border from Indiana. My Mother and Father have passed away and all of my uncles and Aunts too. I try to stay active and healthy even though I have had surgeries due to the side effects of being a diabetic. I still like bike riding and other sports plus my son is a head High School Football so I miss no games. And yes I still go to plays and concerts as much as possible,
During the years I have moved several times for different reasons.
I lived in California for 2 years, mainly southern California to be specific; came back to Illinois till 1998 then moved to Columbia, Tennessee to be closer to my father; came back to Illinois when my sister in law passed in 2006; left for Florida for my job i...Expand for more
n 2010; moved again in 2017 to Kentucky to be closer to my oldest daughter and family in Illinois because the travel every Christmas was a killer; then finally moved and at present living in western Ohio about 30 minutes west of Dayton. Now I'm closer to my grandchildren who live here and 5 hours from my daughter and her new husband and my 2 year old grandchild in Kentucky, plus only 4 hours from family in Illinois.
Both my parents have passed along with most of my aunts and uncles.
The biggest change about me is that I am not that skinny bean pole anymore and I no longer have to wear glasses all of the time (I had cataract surgery). So when you see me don't be shocked like some of my family was afterwards lol. I am also, not the bean pole I used to be in high school. My daughter says I'm skinny, my wife says I'm trying to stay slim not like her lol, but my Drs want me to tone up more, so I'm confused. But I'm still me lol
