Venus's Story
I’m a mother of 2 wonderful boys Hayden and Jake ages 22 and 14.
I have lived all over the east coast and in two countries. I can speak 4 languages and I have over 25 years of Human Resources ,Health Safety and Environmental experience in the Construction, Oil & Gas Industries.
I graduated from college with my MBA in 2013. I have stocked fishing lakes located in Oakdale Pa (Deep Valley Lakes) that is for my children to have and run one day. I have always planned ahead when it comes to taking care of my children.
In my free time, I do my best to help other families who have Autistic children. I’ve been an active member of Autism Speaks in Pittsburgh, Pa for 12 years.
My son Jake didn’t talk until the age of 6. Through 15 hours of speech, occupational and physical therapy every week, Jake is now in a regular classroom and is very intelligent....Expand for more
I continue to help parents to be the best they can be to bring out greatness in their children. Doctors do not know your child more than you do. Don’t let them tell you otherwise. Medicine can have long term effects. Sometimes Autistic behaviors are a challenge but, through support from other parents dealing with the same issues can be very helpful.
I’ve only kept in touch with a few classmates. I keep my circle of friends small. Too many people gossip in this small town of Waynesburg. I don’t participate in any of it and I don’t let people speak negative things about anyone, I don’t care if I know them or not, I stop it from happening in my presence.
Things I have learned over the years: No one is better than anyone else, Job titles and money doesn’t make you a good person. In the end, we will all have the same size graves so stay humble 💕
