Vera's Story
Life
I have lived and worked in Arizona for over 35 years. Between 1980 and 2003, I was known as Vera Moustakas Wynne, but decided to go back to my maiden name. My son is in his thirties now, married and a father of a teen aged girl...yes, I am Grandma or Yiayia. I worked for the State of Arizona, Child Protective Services for over 29 years. Over the years, I had many job functions for CPS doing case management, investigations, training, and taking abuse/neglect reports. I worked at the Child Abuse Hotline and became an Assistant Program Manager in 2006. In late 2007, I took a voluntary demotion to be more available to my mother. It was good that I did, because Mom started having health problems in December and we lost her in early June 2008. I "retired" from State service on August 1, 2008, but went back part time at the Hotline. I always look forward to the high school reunions and making new friends of old classmates. I also enjoy reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances from other schools or work. I love hearing from you all so please send me a message.
School

n stationary and stable in those formative years and also for the great education the Arlington school system provided.
College
I always think of Rider College (now University) as my school, but I did not graduate from there. I still have several close friends from my Rider years, 1969-1972. I later completed my BA in psychology from the State University of NY at New Paltz. Similarly, I moved to Arizona to pursue a Masters of Counseling at Arizona State University in the late 1970's. That did not work out for financial and other reasons. Again I returned to SUNY New Paltz and completed the Master of Professional Studies program with a concentration in Humanistic Education. I finished this program December 1983, and my son was born about 6 weeks later.
Workplace
I worked for the State of Arizona since 1986, except for one brief stint out to the private community from 1/99 to 11/99, which I regret. I retired after having been the trainer and an Assistant Program Manager at the Child Abuse Hotline. After taking a voluntary demotion in late 2007, I went to a later shift and back answering call center phones at the Hotline. I retired on 8/1/08, and returned as a part time temp that September, and worked until April 2015 when I fully retired from State service.
