Vera's Story
Life
After graduating in 1967, I went to work for an insurance company. In 1969, I went to work for DuPont where I met my husband. Before marrying John, I worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass. I married John Wilkinson, Jeffersonville, IN, on May 22, 1971. We had three children, Kerri Ann(1972), John William(1974), and Donna Marie (1975). Kerri graduated from Purdue in 1995 and married James Tomlin on October 20, 1995. They have two children: Nicholas Jameson born on September 3,1998 and Lauren Elizabeth born on April 12, 2001. John graduated from Bellarmine College in 1996. He graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 2000. He did his residency in Memphis, TN. He is now a pediatrician in Knoxville,TN. and Bella Rose born November 20, 2008. Our youngest daughter, Donna was born with a heart defect. She had two closed heart surgeries before she was 1. In 1984, she went to the Mayo Clinic where she underwent open heart surgery. She passed away on November 21, 1989, one week before she turned 14.
John and I have lived in the same house since we married. John retired from his job on May 31, 2006 and I retired from my job on December 31, 2006. We look forward to spending time with each other and our family.
Workplace
After working as the Finance Secretary and Assistant Office Manager for the Boy Scouts of America in Louisville, KY for 19 years, I retired January 1, 2007. I'm looking forward to spending time with my husband of 35 1/2 years, my two grandchildren, my daughter and her husband, and my son and his wife.
