Verma's Story
Well, high school seems a long long time ago. I'm afraid I don't remember much except studying and I'm afraid I don't remember that well either :)
Education
I went on to college in North Carolina and finished with a totally useless degree in English Literature and Mass Communications. Can't think now why I dropped all those computer classes - oh yes - the teacher was exceedingly boring for 8 am.
Work
I've tried my hand at a little bit of everything - not all of them wise choices, some were down right weird :) The ones that stand out were the year teaching English in Czechoslovakia (when it still was) after college; driving an 18 wheeler across country for 1.5 yrs; obituary clerk for the Charlotte Observer while a student.
I went back to school to get my masters degree in library science - and no - I do not spend my day shelving books :) Af...Expand for more
ter an internship in Chicago, I've specialized in biomedical librarianship and I've become a fed working at the National Institutes of Health just outside Washington, DC. I help researchers find information for their studies. Not as exciting as some of my previous jobs, but interesting.
Personal life
While teaching English in E. Europe, I met my husband on a train station platform at 5 am New Year's Day by asking him if I had the right platform. It's a long story - if you are interested - shoot me an email :) We've been married 11 yrs.
We've traveled a bit and continue to when we can. We live just outside Washington, DC with 2 dogs and 3 cats that run our lives :)
For hobbies we take in backpackers who are passing through our town and need a place to stay and I dabble in writing - I'm afraid we're not very exciting :)
