Vernon's Story
Life
I have lived in Catawba County since the mid-70s. We have lived just outside Conover in Rock Barn since 1995. Pam and I have a 25 year old son, Taylor, and a 20 year old daughter, Maggie. She is a junior at App. Over the past 4 years, I have renewed an old friendship with Bill Ward. He is a surgeon at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and did surgery on Taylor. As far as work is concerned, I have been general manager of a lumber yard/building materials supplier for the past 19 years. The business was started by Pam's father in 1952.
Prior to this, I finally went back to college and earned my bachelors degree. I graduated Cum Laude while working days and attending classes at night.
